Infertility is stressful, and can become of the most difficult life crises a
couple ever has to face. The
inability to conceive a child can create considerable feelings of loss. When
these feelings are combined with the demands and uncertainties o f treatment, it
is not uncommon to feel emotionally out of control.
While pursing
infertility treatment, it is normal to cycle through emotional highs and lows,
including periods of feeling overwhelmed. However, if you experience extreme
sadness that doesn’t lessen over time, and a loss of interest in your normal
activities, you may benefit from working with a mental health professional.
